Cauterets is located in the center of the Pyrenees National Park , in the Coeur de Parc zone , which is the most protected space.

Between 1000 and 3200m above sea level, the park is a real natural wonder . A succession of rocky massifs, wooded valleys and green meadows, lakes, waterfalls and sparkling streams, flowers in vibrant colors - Wild Narcours, Iris des Pyrénées, Rhododendons ..

This sumptuous setting houses a particularly rich fauna and flora. For some species, it is even here that we find the majority, even the entire population listed in France. The most present animals, which you can observe during your hikes will be the M Armottes, the Isards, the Bouquetins and many raptors .

Attention Protected space!  The regulation of the Pyrenees National Park is particularly strict in the heart zone.

Visit the house of the National Park , in the village center, offers a rich documentation, films and exhibitions on this precious ecosystem and on the work accomplished in the park.
