Hors track: descend the Pic du Midi in Ski Free Ride

Emblematic summit of Hautes-Pyrénées, from the top of its 2,877 meters, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre is considered one of the most beautiful sites in the world for the practice of free ride skiing.

On the two sections of the cable car (departure from Station de la Mongie) and on different pic's slopes, many routes are possible. The elevations range from 500 meters to 1500 meters, and the slope from 30 to more than 50 degrees.

The area is not marked out or fitted out, this activity cannot be improvised. It is essential to be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide , which perfectly knows the weather and snow conditions, the authorized limits and the routes, and will be able to equip you with the required safety equipment.

A mastery of “all snow” practice is required. The slopes are of black track level, and it will be necessary to be able to adapt to different qualities of snow: often hard at the start of the route, more flexible afterwards.

In addition to these basic precautions, this free Ride of the Pic du Midi descent over almost 10 km, in a breathtaking panorama, will leave you an unforgettable memory. After a good sharing of experience in the evening at the Chalet La Source, you will only have a desire: start again!
