Chalet la Source, your "eco-home"

Among the criteria of the National Spirit brand, efforts to limit carbon impact are of great importance. The concern for the environment is an integral part of the La Source chalet offer.
You will appreciate it all the more since it also contributes, by limiting energy consumption, to guarantee you the most competitive rates possible!

 1) Forget the car, adopt the bike!

Do not hesitate to leave your car in the parking lot , the time for your stay. The village is a stone's throw away, and will avoid many parking inconvenience in the village.

Thanks to our partnership with Roc & Trail, a stone's throw from the chalet, you can rent electric bikes at advantageous prices. A precious help to quickly move to Cauterets, and far beyond: the greenway, the mockery or even the Spanish bridge, are within handlebars! 

2) Limit your water and electricity consumption

The chalet The source has been renovated with high quality insulation and hatched heating modes: stove and pellet, and heat pump.

To best manage this resource, some reflexes will be welcome:

• Air conditioning or heat without excess
• In case of absence, lower the heating (the heat pump will warm the part in 10 minutes) and turn off the lights
• Do not run at the same time several high-consumption devices (oven, dryer, dishwasher, hairdryer). Overcoming the authorized power causes a power outage for the whole chalet.
• Avoid long showers (average consumption of a shower: 15 liters/minute) and not more than one bath per day (a bath consumes 120 to 200 liters of water, or 3 to 4 showers).
  
  

3) Reduce your waste

A compost for plant waste is at your disposal, behind the parking lot, at the top of the few stone steps next to the bear.

Rechargeable shower gel distributors are installed in each bathroom (composition on request). Keep your shower gels in the suitcase, you will not need it: even containers, it's less plastic in the trash cans!

4) An ecological laundry service

Here you will have nothing to do with particular, but this service is important to underline because the laundry enters a large part of the impact on the tourism environment. It therefore deserves special attention.

In our seasonal rentals, the linen is provided for the duration of the stay. This is an essential first difference compared to hotel establishments, where linen is renewed on demand. The environmental impact of laundry is therefore reduced "to the source"!

Then, the chalet La Source works with a professional laundry . Subject to the most recent standards, it uses the aqua-cleaning process , a process is very economical in water and energy, and without solvents or emission of polluting products.

Where a traditional washing machine needs 9 to 12 liters of water per kilo of linen, with chemical detergents and temperatures above 30 °, aqua-cleaning uses 30% less water, with products Biodegradable and much lower temperatures (about 25 °). Dry cleaning, using solvents, is also strongly consuming water and energy: if it does not use water to treat linen, it uses it to cool and distill the Solvent, in the end much more than the aqua-cleaning.

And when you treat more than a ton of linen per year as at the chalet the source, it ends up making a big difference!
