An exceptional natural snow in the magnificent setting of the Pyrenean peaks, here is the universe of the Lys circus : Soum de Grum, Soum de Mauloc, a view from the ridges to the vignemale, Ardiden and Pic du Midi de Bigorre ...
Cauterets is often the first Pyrenees station to open, and the last to close.
For what ? Oriented towards the East, she benefits from an extra standard snow of 622 centimeters per season. Better than the largest Alpine stations!
The estate is accessible at all levels : green tracks to start, up to the black tracks for experienced skiers. In all, these are 23 slopes over 36 km between 1730 and 2415m above sea level, as well as a very popular freestylers snow park
To start ski touring , a course was specially marked and secure in the Mauloc sector.
This route, on 200m of elevation from the Grand Barbat, up to 500m from the ridges, offers an exceptional view. As with the practice of toboggans, it is accessible with a specific pass.
Upon arrival of the cable car at the foot of the slopes, you will find many services: toboggan area, mini club and daycare, 3 ski schools, instructions, restaurant / bar & snacks, and two picnic rooms.
Nordic area: the Spanish bridge, "Petit Canada"
The Spanish bridge is accessible by shuttle from Cauterets.
Once the Puntas parking lot has passed, you discover a completely different universe: the cozy and crystalline atmosphere of the Marcadau valley .
Sparkling torrents and frozen waterfalls, pine forests bleached by snow and light lights ...
A unique beauty that is worth this large Midi Pyrénées site its nickname "Petit Canada" . Guaranteed change of scenery!
Less frequented than alpine domains, it is the dream site of families , ideal for varying activities in a friendly atmosphere.
Lepont d'Espagne allows you to practice Nordic skiing (36 km of 5 circuits in 5 circuits), rackets ( 6 km of marked tracks), but also beginning alpine skiing thanks to two small tracks (blue and red) that wind in the middle Fir trees.
Finally, a large toboggan track is fitted out just side by the Clôt chalet.
It is possible to take ski lessons and learn biathlon with Nordic Elan .
The site has two ideally located restoration points : the Hotel of the Pont d'Espagne facing the majestic waterfall, and the Chalet du Clôt, located from the main slopes and right side of the Luge area.
Let us add that this Haute-Bigorre valley is also the playing field of many high mountain mountaineers or hikers. A real nugget!

Test the other areas of the Gavarnie valleys
Land of Grand Ski, the Gavarnie valleys are home to five ski areas and three Nordic spaces. Sometimes in the middle of the fir trees, sometimes on large tracks in the open sight, these stations allow skiing in very diverse environments.
Hautacam is a small family resort, which offers a beautiful open view of the valleys. Around the Tramassel pass between 1600 and 1750m above sea level, 20 km of Alpine slopes, and 6 km for the Nordic estate.
You will also be able to test the pleasure of speed in mountain luge (sledge on rail), a unique attraction in the region.
Gavarnie - Gédre: another family resort, with 32 km of alpine slopes between 1800 and 2300 m altitude, in the incomparable decor of the Gavarnie circus and its famous Roland breach.
The track of "marmots", the longest green track in the French Pyrenees (almost 6 km), will be particularly suitable for beginners and children.
Luz Ardiden: Thanks to its two sides on the Aulian and Béderet side, the station offers a varied area over 60 km of slopes between 1,700 and 2500 meters above sea level . No way to get bored!
The Val d'Azun is the other Nordic paradise, an area less intimate than the Spanish Pont but more extensive. Between the Col du Soulor in Arrens -Marsous (1474m) and the Col de Couraduque à none (1367m), 90 km of marked tracks in the heart of fir forests.
